Get approved by a payment processor

Do this early. Adult retail is restricted by many processors.

This can block everything

Many payment processors restrict or ban adult products, and some review each business individually. Policies change, so check each one's current rules.

What to do

  1. Ask each processor directly whether they accept sexual wellness products.
  2. Ask other retailers which processors they use and which ones dropped them.
  3. Apply, and do not build the store around any processor until you are approved.

Descriptor

Choose a neutral billing descriptor, such as "Jane's Goods", so a customer's statement does not say anything explicit.

Have a backup

Approval can be withdrawn. Know your second choice before you need it.
